The biodigester is fed from the final manhole of the sewer system. The solid human waste is broken down into liquid effluent by the methanogenic bacteria culture supplied with the bio-digester and at the same time, it produces biogas. The liquid effluent can be recycled to flush toilets, for irrigation, or channeled to a soak pit. There is an option of using the biogas for cooking or lighting by incorporating a gas storage tank which is a digester by itself in a floating drum concept and can be fed by wastewater from the kitchen, food waste, or animal dung. The gas produced will supplement the gas from the bio-digester.Â

The bio-digesters and piping system are made of heavy-duty plastic. The dome cover is coated with vinyl, and all bolts and nuts are made of galvanized steel.
